Just a few random thoughts and events, or lack there of, involved in the life of ME

So now I'm faced with a dilemna. One of my co-workers from my job in Boston over the winter has just accepted a position at my old hotel as Front Office Manger. She will be hiring for a position as Front Desk Manager at the hotel which is now a Marriott hotel. She called to let me know about the position and she thinks I should think about it.

I didn't have a great experience in Boston, but I know that was because I was working nights and basically had no social life cause I couldn't meet people. But I am actually considering going down that road again because it'd be such a good opportunity for me. I think maybe I could learn to love the city if I gave it a chance... and if I can convince Joe to move there with me, lol.

Anywho, I am at work now and tomorrow is my last day. I'm gonna be sad to leave, but I know I need to cause I just don't like the management stucture and the way things operate here. I also miss my family and friends a lot. I don't want to grow up!!!

Oh yeah, and GO RED SOX! lol

Only 8 days til I leave this bloody island... I am looking forward to it, but at the same time it's kinda scary. I don't really know what I want to do next with my life. I could see myself staying in Geneva or it's surrounding areas for awhile, just to save some money and to maybe figure out if hospitality is really the field for me. It's just weird though. I feel like I'm waiting for something big to happen to get me focused. I am just floating along now, but I'm gonna be 24 in 2 months. I know that's not old in the grand scheme of things, but it seems old since I feel like i have no career or accomplishments to show for those 24 years. Yes I graduated college and got some decent jobs and experience, but I have no "career" to really boast of. It's just my quarterlife crisis I suppose...

On a MUCH lighter note, lol, I just returned from a long weekend trip to Atlanta to visit Beth and Kristin. Lynn flew down from Syracuse too, so we were all reunited for the first time in a long time. All we did really was go out to eat and go out to drink, lol. We all got really wasted Friday night after we got there and went to a bar called Fado (pronounced Fa-dough). I don't remember much except walking home and Lynn falling and me peeing in the bushes, lol. Saturday we spent the whole day in the apartment then went to the Cheesecake Factory for lunch/dinner and out in the Highlands at night. No one really got drunk, but we still had an ok night. Sunday we layed around all day AGAIN, lol, then went to the Park Tavern for lunch/dinner. We did some shopping at Lenox Mall then watched Love Actually and more TV. TV was a major part of this trip... lol. Monday Lynn and I went walking around while Beth and Krissy worked. We went to eat at a really good pizza place then drove around and dropped off my resume some places, just in case I decide to move there. We dropped Lynn at the airport and went back to the mall. I was on a mission for boots and a poncho, but went home with neither, lol. Monday night was fun though. I wanted to go to ESPNZone for some drinks because it looked cool and the Braves were playing as well as Monday night football. I don't think Krissy or Beth really wanted to go out, but they did. Once we got there we played some arcade games and sat down for some beers. There were a lot of good lookin boys there so that perked Kristin right up and we ended up having a really good night. I flew home on Tuesday and now I'm back to my crap ass job... be jealous people...

I am counting the days now til I leave the island for the summer. Only 25 more days and only 14 more days of work! I am going to Atlanta this coming weekend (Columbus Day) to visit Kristin and Beth. Lynn is flying from Syracuse too, I'm so exciting for an escape. I also went to Washington D.C. to visit Angie with Joe and Erica 2 weeks ago, and I plan on going up to Boston 2 days before I leave the island for some last minute shopping and to see Serina off.

So let me talk about D.C.. I've never been to our nation's capital, mostly because my 8th grade class had to be different and decide to go to Boston for our class trip instead of going to D.C. like most classes before us. We were a difficult group to deal with. Anyways, leaving the island is such a pain the ass, especially to try and fly somewhere. I had to take a bust to the ferry, ferry to another bus, bus to Logan Airport, then once in Baltimore we had to take a train to D.C. Needless to say it was a long day.
Thursday after we got there and Angie met us, we went out to eat at a place called the Red something or other because they had $10 pitchers of margarittas. We had 2 pitchers between the four of us and some eats, then vertured off to stumble around the city a bit at night. Once the pitchers kicked in it turned into a stumble for a bathroom. Since Angie works for a senator she was able to sneak us into the Senate building (I think that's what it was). We eventually found our way home and to bed.
Friday Angie had to work so Erica, Joe and I slept in then met her for a lunch date. I think the place was called Capital City Brewery or something. After lunch Angie went back to work and the 3 of us went to the International Spy museum, which I had never heard of, but Erica saw it on Perfect Proposals and wanted to go. It was a lot bigger than I thought and I got to pretend to have a cover and be a spy, so if anyone asks, my name is Angela Fallcone and I was born in Mirano, Italy. I am traveling to Hanoi, Vietnam on business for 30 days because I am a travel agent, haha. After then museum we went to Angie's and got to meet her boy toy Robert. We ordered some pizza and let Erica's beer get warm so she could drink it. We went to this bar in Dupont Circle called The Front Page. I had gotten so use to not being able to smoke in bars that it was really weird to see people walking around with cigarettes... it almost made me want one, lol.
Saturday the weather wasn't spectacular so we decided to go see the monuments. Since I'd never been there it was really interesting. We went to the World War II Memorial, which is new to "The Mall" as they call it. It was nice but it made me get choked up because there were all these vets getting their pictures taken with the quotes on the stone, and at the stones of the different states there were lots of pictures, articles and memorabilia of people who served and died in and after the war. The Vietnam memorial was also a tear jerker... I'm such a sap. We went up to Georgetown to shop a bit and ate up there too. I think we were all a little pooped from our day so we went back to Angie's and watched some T.V.
Sunday was our last day visiting so we went to a sandwich place called Cosi around Dupont Circle. The place was amazing, I want them to build one in Geneva, lol. Right next to Ciccinos :) After lunch we went to a cute little book store then went people watching at the Circle. We decided it was time to spend more money and went to H&M for the rest of the afternoon, literally, lol. We had to leave cause the store was closing. I suggested that we go to a restaurant we saw on Friday that I had been to in Atlanta and it was a big hit. So now Angie is hooked on their hummus dish. After dinner we headed back to Angie's to watch the Emmy's and drink a bit. But all the grocery stores and liquor stores were closed... so we had a sober Emmy party, lol.
Monday we just packed up and I went through the whole traveling fiasco again, lol. It was a really fun trip and I'm so glad I got to see Angie, Erica and Joe all together. I miss all of us being able to hang out. Damn growing up and moving on business... it's overrated.
Well I'm busy at work, and by busy I mean bidding on ebay for Felicity DVDs, so I should go! You'll hear from me soon...
